Installation from my solo exhibition: Beauty and the Beast. A selection of works exploring the space beyond dualistic perceptions.

Kikuyu grass was introduced to New Zealand from South Africa and is now considered as invasive and completely useless. Reason enough for me to have a closer look and open up for the beauty behind this beast. I spun the grass into little creatures and some people recognised them as kina (sea urchin). The idea for "Habitats" was born.

Habits create habitats. Simple!

Humans know the consequences of their habits. Not so simple!

Favoring growing grass over trees has an effect on everything. It means reducing water availability, soil fertility and wildlife diversity. It means destroying our own habitats by destroying others.
